The Rarest of Breeds

We see a general over population of the most common house cats and general tom cats, but what is to be said for some of the rare breeds. Yes, there is such a thing as a rare breed of feline. Some of the most beautifully marked and interestingly unique felines are on the rare breed list.

The Kurilian Bobtail is one of these rare feline breeds. Their existence was isolated for over one hundred years on a small chain of islands between Russia and Japan. The first encounters with these felines were documented by Russians who left writings of bobtailed cats brought home from these islands by Russian military men. Some believed that these exotic bobtail felines were actually a heavier breed of the Japanese Bobtail and even still that can not be fully disputed. These are felines with a wild origin and their temperament shows that trait to this day. Its larger-then-normal hind quarters and noticeable bob tail are the defining marks of this elegant, yet frisky, feline. Yet its coat is layered with the most defined bold lines and this gives it a wonderfully cherished look.

The Kinkalow is an extremely rare breed and it is not hard to see why. With its pitched ears and tiny body it is labeled as a coveted, tender breed. It is a dwarf feline breed which causes its body to be almost twice as small as any regular breed body size. The curled-back ears resemble the American curl breed and give it an incredibly unique appearance. The legs on this breed are far shorter than even normal munchkin breeds. They have a diverse and creative personality to go along with their tiny, amazing bodies.

The Serengeti is an amazing breed that has extreme beauty and maintains a rare status. This large boned, and long legged domestic cat gets its look from an African wild cat. The focal point of this breed is its high placed ears, sitting directly on top of its skull, and their spotted, almost leopard resembling coat. There are several variations of the coat color. They exist in gray with black spots, silver with black spots, or solid black. This breed displays an amazing posture over other breeds due to the length of their bones. It causes them to stand straight, tall, and show grace in their movements. The ears alone cause the coveted nature of their breed. It gives them a look of curiosity and alarm, but innocence in true form.
