Toys for Your Cat

Toys are essential for an indoor cat, and although not essential, an outdoor cat deserves just the same amount of fun. They are important for your cat due to the exercise they get from playing. Whether it's running, jumping, pawing, or rolling around, the exercise will keep them healthy, happy, and enjoyable. The range in cat toys goes from squeaky mice to the natural plant of catnip, and all of the choices provide a healthy way for you cat to let it's energy's go.

The jumping cat toys are a fun and very comical way to entertain your feline friend. These toys are often strung from the ceiling in a string type fashion and with the tempting movement of it above them, the cat simply can't resist jumping up to grab it. Often times you'll find it feather attached to a string, a bungee cord that doesn't have the hook on the end or a long string. You can make these yourself really easily using common household objects or find one to buy in pet stores or even online. Many people will put the string they use in front of a fan or hanging from a ceiling fan to create the movement that will catch your cats attention.

Mice toys are the most popular toy for cats and come in a range of toy styles. Whether it's a rubber squeaking mouse or a battery operated laser pointing mouse, they come in all shapes and sizes. Because of their wide range in types there are also many reasons why they are so popular, but like any other good cat toy, it makes them move! Battery operated mouse toy to automatically move around and draw your cat to it and become unwrapped in catching it. If the toy doesn't move on it's own (which many don't), they should captivate your cat with texture or smell.

Catnip, if you are unfamiliar with the term is a completely safe and all natural plant which your cat will sniff, roll around on, and eat. Cat's love this plant and will go crazy over it for a brief period of time, but once your cat becomes familiar with the smell they will become bored with it and walk away briefly, and will most likely return for more once their noses are clear of it.

Home making cat toys can be an extremely fun project and is as simply as finding strings, small balls, and feathers, gluing them together and letting your cat have fun. There are no limitations to the creativity you can come up with to make fun cat toys and if your pocket books are tight, getting creative could save you some of that extra money.
